Support for TUM Boring – Innovation in Tunneling e.V.
Not-a-Boring-Competition – this competition was created by Tesla founder Elon Musk. The aim is to make traffic routes more efficient in order to waste less time in traffic. And, of course, to pave the way to a greener future.
Teams from all over the world have to drill a 30m long and 50cm wide tunnel as quickly and as precisely as possible – in other words, dig faster than a garden shed digs. Because that would already be much faster than the industry average.
And that’s exactly what a team from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) consisting of 60 highly motivated students is doing.
The TUM Boring Team approached us to see if we could support them with conveyor belts. After all, the material produced by drilling has to be transported away from the drill head somehow. And here, of course, our conveyor belts are best suited.
Enthused by the students’ commitment and the idea behind the competition, we were of course on board right away and support the team with 6 different conveyor belts.
We are excited to see how the team will do in the competition, which will probably take place in summer 2021 near Los Angeles, and are keeping our fingers crossed.
