FLOODS: QUICK HELP THANKS TO SANDBAG FILLING SYSTEM

The floods at the beginning of the month in Upper Bavaria, Germany demonstrated the importance of well-functioning technical equipment in a terrifying way. In 2014, we built a sandbag filling machine for the Erding fire brigade that can fill large quantities of sandbags in a short space of time.

“The machine fills a sandbag in 7.8 seconds,” explained Benjamin Löffelmann, deputy commander of the Erding fire brigade. In extreme weather conditions, speed is of the essence and so the system was put to full use on 2 June 2014, running at high capacity from 10:00 to 21:30.

The day before the flood, 130 tonnes of sand had already been filled and the district of Erding survived the flooding without any major damage. Thousands more sandbags were filled and delivered to neighbouring districts.

Many state governments provide funding for the purchase of a sandbag filling system for disaster control. If your municipality or local fire brigade does not yet have such a system, please pass on the information. We will be happy to advise you on the sandbag filling system, which we can design to meet your individual requirements.
